The architecture of Zimbabwe is defined by three major building complexes, the Hill Complex, the Valley Complex and the Great Enclosure, all associated with the medieval city of Great Zimbabwe, and the country's building history has been shaped by both traditional and colonial architecture. Since 1954, Zimbabwean building has drawn mainly on pre-colonial, traditional architecture, especially forms inspired by Great Zimbabwe itself, as seen in structures such as the Kingdom Hotel, Harare International Airport and the National Heroes' Acre.
