Palaces of Central Italy

Palace and villa entries within this atlas's Palaces of Italy group whose subject stands in Centro, the central one of the five macro-regions that ISTAT and the Eurostat NUTS-1 classification define for Italy: Tuscany, Umbria, the Marche and Lazio, the last of which includes Rome and the towns of the Alban Hills such as Frascati where several of this group's villas stand, and Vatican City, the enclave the city of Rome surrounds. Belongs here: any palace or villa this atlas records as standing in one of those regions, from the Medici villas around Florence to the papal and cardinalatial villas of Frascati and the palaces of Rome itself, whatever its present use as museum, government seat, ecclesiastical property or private home. Does not belong here: a residence anywhere in Northern, Southern or island Italy, gathered under this same group's siblings, Palaces of Northern Italy, Palaces of Southern Italy and Palaces of the Italian Islands.
