Seven Oaks Estate

Residential Buildings

Seven Oaks Estate is a historic house at the end of Ludlow Lane in Palisades, Rockland County, New York, built in 1862 on a 15.3-acre property in the Gothic Revival style to a design by George E. Woodward, an editor of The Horticulturist, whose large clapboarded main building has a projecting central bay and full-width verandah influenced by the 1857 book Villas and Cottages by Calvert Vaux. The estate, which formerly belonged to Charles F. Park, also includes a coachman house built around 1862 and four outbuildings, and it stands as one of the earliest surviving residences from the development of Palisades as a wealthy summer retreat community once railroads made the Hudson River shoreline accessible to affluent New Yorkers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 12, 1990.
