Sourced to the subject's own accountAccounts differ on when the palace core was finished: the contemporary historian Critobulus of Imbros gives 1459 to 1465, while other sources place completion in the late 1460s. The wider complex was expanded for centuries afterward, so this year marks only Mehmed II's original palace core, not the present complex.
