Gazebo

Building Types and Terms

A gazebo is a pavilion structure, sometimes octagonal or turret shaped, often built in a park, garden or open public space; it is roofed and typically open on all sides, whether freestanding or attached to a wall. Gazebos provide shade and shelter from rain, offer a place to rest, and serve as ornamental garden features, with larger versions sometimes doubling as bandstands in public parks. In British English the word can also mean a tent like canopy with open sides used for shelter at outdoor events.
