Ordinary low- and mid-rise buildings built for commerce or office work, considered separately from the height-defined skyscraper typology above. Belongs here: any named office building whose notability rests on something other than exceptional height, such as an early steel-framed commercial building or an architecturally significant corporate headquarters of modest height. Does not belong here: a building whose height and record status are the primary reason for its inclusion, grouped under tall buildings and skyscrapers.
