Buildings built to house a government function, a legislature, a courthouse or another civic institution's working premises. Belongs here: any named government building considered as a work of architecture. Does not belong here: palaces that house a monarch's residence rather than a government office, grouped under palaces and aristocratic residences, or cultural institutions such as a museum, grouped under cultural and institutional buildings even where they are publicly owned.
