Government House is the official workplace of the Prime Minister of Thailand and the country's cabinet, standing on Phitsanulok Road in the Dusit district of Bangkok across an eleven acre compound of palace like buildings used for offices, conferences and state receptions. Its main building was originally designed by Annibale Rigotti and completed under Corrado Feroci and Ercole Manfredi after Rigotti's departure following the death of King Vajiravudh, construction having begun in 1925. The main building is built in a Venetian Gothic style, its facade recalling the Ca' d'Oro palace in Venice and topped by a golden dome housing a statue of Phra Phrom. The grounds also hold the Thai Khu Fah building, which combines neo Venetian Gothic with Byzantine decorative elements across two floors around a central staircase, its roof crowned by a small shrine to Phra Phrom; the complex was originally built as a residence, called Baan Norasingha, before becoming the office of the Prime Minister in 1941.
