Finland Parliament House

Government and Civic Buildings

The Finland Parliament House, the Eduskuntatalo, stands in Helsinki, designed by the architect J. S. Siren following a competition and completed in 1931 as the seat of Finland's unicameral parliament, the Eduskunta. Its long facade of Kalvola red granite is fronted by a row of fourteen tall columns in a stripped, monumental classicism characteristic of the Nordic Classicism style of the interwar period, a deliberate move away from both older historicist styles and the emerging modern movement. The building's plenary hall and public spaces carry extensive decorative work by Finnish artists of the period, and the building remains in active use as the country's working legislature.

Has Building Type

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
