The Kuala Lumpur Tower, known locally as Menara Kuala Lumpur or KL Tower, is a 421-metre telecommunications tower on Bukit Nanas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, designed by the architect Ir. Achmad Moerdijat of Kumpulan Senireka and completed on September 13, 1994. It ranks among the tallest telecommunication towers in the world, with a public observation platform near 276 meters offering panoramic views of the city. The tower houses a revolving restaurant and, notably, an Islamic lunar observatory used to help determine the start and end of the Islamic calendar's fasting month. Visitors reach the upper levels by a system of four elevators serving a stairwell of more than two thousand steps, and the tower remains one of the most recognizable structures on the Malaysian capital's skyline.
