Brandenburg Gate

Monuments, Towers and Commemorative Structures

The Brandenburg Gate is an eighteenth century neoclassical monument in Berlin, Germany, and one of the country's best known landmarks. It was built between 1788 and 1791 on the orders of King Frederick William II of Prussia, to a design by the royal architect Carl Gotthard Langhans, on the site of a former city gate that had marked the start of the road to Brandenburg an der Havel, the old capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. The bronze quadriga that crowns the gate is the work of the sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow.

Has Building Type

Monument, Concepts

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
