The Guinigi Tower (Torre Guinigi) is a medieval tower in Lucca, Tuscany, built in the second half of the 14th century by the wealthy Guinigi family of merchants and bankers, one of several such towers wealthy Lucchese families raised within the city walls as status symbols. It exemplifies the local Romanesque-Gothic style and rises 45 metres over 230 steps and 28 flights, distinguished by a cluster of holm oaks growing atop its summit. The Guinigi family's descendants donated the tower to the city of Lucca in 1968, and it is now open to the public.
