Lamphey Bishop's Palace

Lamphey Bishop's Palace is a ruined medieval episcopal residence in Lamphey, Pembrokeshire, Wales, largely built between 1328 and 1347 under Bishop Henry de Gower, though thirteenth century fragments of an earlier hall survive. The complex once included a 25 metre great hall and more than 20 rooms along with fishponds, orchards, and parkland, and it passed to the crown in 1546 before being granted to the Devereux family, whose Walter Devereux, later 1st Earl of Essex, lived there as a child. Now a scheduled ancient monument and Grade I listed ruin in the care of Cadw, its grounds carry a separate Grade II star listing on the historic parks and gardens register for Wales.
