All Saints' Church, Icklingham

Religious and Sacred Buildings

All Saints' Church is a redundant Anglican church at the highest point of the village of Icklingham in Suffolk, England, standing near the route of the ancient Icknield Way. Some of its fabric dates from the Norman period in the 11th and 12th centuries, but the building was largely rebuilt in the prosperous 14th century and gained a south porch in the 15th century; it combines Norman and Gothic work in flint rubble with freestone dressings under a thatched roof, with a three stage southwest tower carrying gargoyles, a four bay nave with a south aisle, and a chancel. Its fittings include a 14th century limestone font with an octagonal carved bowl, carved poppyhead pews, trefoil headed piscinas, mosaic floor tiles and a ring of three bells, some of them medieval. The church has been out of regular use for more than a century, was declared redundant in the 1970s, is listed Grade I, and is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, which has re-thatched its roof in the traditional style. Has Building Type

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
