Borley Rectory

Borley Rectory was a Gothic Revival house built in 1862 in Borley, Essex, England, by the Reverend Henry Dawson Ellis Bull to house the parish rector and his family. It became known as the most haunted house in England after psychic researcher Harry Price investigated reports of paranormal activity following coverage in the Daily Mirror in 1929, though the Society for Psychical Research later concluded many of the alleged phenomena were fabricated or had natural explanations. The rectory was severely damaged by an accidental fire in February 1939, after an oil lamp was knocked over, and the remains were demolished in 1944.
