Farmsteads and Homesteads

A working or former agricultural property built around a farmhouse and its associated outbuildings, most often a documented family farm, ranch headquarters or homestead claim recorded on its own agricultural merit rather than as the seat of a large plantation estate historically worked under a plantation labor system. This group gathers farms and homesteads distinguished from the plantation houses above chiefly by scale and character, a family-run farmstead rather than a large commercial agricultural estate, while still sharing the same rural, working-land setting and outbuilding pattern.
