All Southern and Southwest Virginia

Plantation houses of Virginia's Southside, along the North Carolina border, and of the state's far southwest, in the Virginia Tourism Corporation's own adjoining Southern Virginia and Southwest Virginia regions: the Southside tobacco counties (Halifax, Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, Brunswick, Charlotte, Southampton, Henry) and the New River Valley and Blue Ridge counties further west (Montgomery, Botetourt). The two regions are combined into one group here because the Southwest Virginia share of this atlas's Virginia plantation houses, four members drawn only from Montgomery and Botetourt counties, falls under this engine's own eight-member floor for a group to render on its own; grouped together, these two geographically contiguous and economically related tobacco and frontier-agriculture regions form one coherent, renderable group distinct from the Piedmont, Tidewater, Northern Virginia and Shenandoah Valley groups gathered elsewhere under Plantation Houses: Virginia.
