Standing on Punta Pagana near the boundary with Santa Margherita Ligure, it includes a private park containing the seventeenth-century Castello di Punta Pagana, and has served as a magisterial residence of the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta since 1959, giving rise to its local nickname Villa dei Cavalieri di Malta or Villa Malta.
