Keswick (Powhatan, Virginia)

Keswick is an early nineteenth-century plantation house on the Chesterfield and Powhatan county line in Virginia, an H-shaped, two-story weatherboard building on a brick foundation with a gable roof and brick exterior chimneys at each gable end. The 183-acre property retains several outbuildings, including a well house, smokehouse, circular quarters that once housed enslaved workers, a kitchen, a two-story brick residence, a shed, and a laundry building, and its proportions have been compared to those of the nearby Tuckahoe plantation across the James River. It was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register on November 19, 1974, and to the National Register of Historic Places on December 19, 1974.
