Ferme de la Ranconniere

Ferme de la Ranconniere is a historic fortified farmhouse with a distinctive round medieval tower in the commune of Crepon in Calvados, Normandy, France, first built in the thirteenth century as La Ferme de Bieville, with most of the present buildings reconstructed in the early seventeenth century while the round tower survives from the medieval structure. The Chastel family held the fief from at least 1463, as shown by their coat of arms on a fresco in the tower, and the de la Ranconniere family, who acquired the property in 1710, gave it its current name; the building preserves Romanesque archways, a monumental stone chimney, exposed ceiling beams and a spiral stairway within the tower. It has been carefully restored as a furnished residential property, with parts designated historic monuments in 1927 and 1970, and its round tower opens to the public during European Heritage Days.
