Whitehall is a colonial home on a peninsula about 7.5 miles east of Annapolis, Maryland, commissioned by colonial governor Horatio Sharpe and built between 1764 and 1769, first as an entertainment pavilion before becoming his residence. The five-part Georgian mansion, designed by Joseph Horatio Anderson with interior woodwork attributed to William Buckland, is one of only two pre-Revolutionary American houses with a temple portico carried on Corinthian columns. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and restored to its 1787 appearance, the house remains privately owned.
