Casa de Liniers

Casa de Liniers is a national historic site in the Monserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, built toward the end of the 1780s and completed in 1788 for Martin Simon de Sarratea. It later served as the official residence of Santiago de Liniers, 1st Count of Buenos Aires, who lived there from 1806 to 1809 while viceroy of the Rio de la Plata, and it was inside the house that General William Beresford signed the terms of his capitulation to the Spanish authorities on August 20, 1806, during the first British invasion of the Rio de la Plata. The house was declared a National Historic Monument in 1942.
