Carnton

Carnton is a historic plantation house built in 1826 in Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee, on grounds that once covered roughly 1,420 acres. During the American Civil War the house served as the principal field hospital for wounded soldiers after the 1864 Battle of Franklin, fought less than a mile away, and four Confederate generals killed in the battle were laid out on its back porch. The house survives today as a preserved historic home.
