Cook-Bateman Farm

Residential Buildings

The Cook-Bateman Farm is a colonial-era farmstead at the intersection of Fogland, Puncatest Neck and Pond Bridge roads in Tiverton, Rhode Island, first purchased in 1700 and expanded to its largest extent of 200 acres in the last quarter of the eighteenth century; the farm today covers 63 acres. Its two-and-a-half-story farmhouse has an oldest portion dating to about 1730 to 1748, a north kitchen added around 1812 to 1820 and a Second Empire mansard roof added around 1870, alongside a late nineteenth or early twentieth century gambrel-roofed barn and a two-story hip-roofed frame building that may be the oldest structure on the property, possibly a heavily altered original farm building from about 1700. The property remained in the hands of just two families for more than 200 years until 1977, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 11, 1979, and has yielded arrowheads and stone tools evidencing earlier Native American occupation of the fields. Has Building Type

Farm, Concepts

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
