Wye House

Residential Buildings

Wye House is a historic Georgian and Federal-style plantation residence northwest of Easton in Talbot County, Maryland, built between 1781 and 1784 for Edward Lloyd IV using wealth built on enslaved labor. At its height the plantation held more than 1,000 enslaved people across some 42,000 acres, and Frederick Douglass was enslaved there as a child, later describing conditions on the estate in his autobiography. Wye House was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970 and remains in the hands of Lloyd family descendants.

Entity-backed identity for the building-type enum value this building already carries, resolved to an architecture concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The building-type fact itself stays on the building unchanged.
