Tezcuco (Burnside, Louisiana)

Tezcuco was a plantation house along Louisiana Highway 44, about 1.7 miles southeast of Burnside, Louisiana, built around 1855 in the Greek Revival style for Benjamin Tureaud. It remained with the Bringier-Tureaud family until 1950, when it was purchased by Dr. and Mrs. Robert H. Potts; Annette Harland acquired the property in 1982 and converted it into a bed and breakfast in 1983. Tezcuco was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 3, 1983, but was delisted on January 31, 2019 after the house burned down in May 2002 from an undetermined cause; only its fireplace ruins remain visible today.
