Tall Buildings and Skyscrapers

Buildings whose height is itself the defining architectural fact, the class CTBUH (the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, an established atlas source) tracks as its own typology distinct from ordinary commercial buildings: the skyscraper and the office tower built primarily to maximize height and floor area on a constrained footprint. Belongs here: any named building whose height, structural system for achieving it, or record status is central to why it is notable. Does not belong here: an ordinary low-rise office building, grouped under commercial and office buildings, or a monumental freestanding tower with no significant occupied floor area, grouped under monuments, towers and commemorative structures.
