Beijing Daxing International Airport is a passenger airport straddling the border of Beijing and Langfang in Hebei province, with a terminal building designed by Zaha Hadid Architects working with the French planning firm ADPI and China's Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. Construction finished on June 30, 2019, and the airport opened for commercial flights that September 26. Its single unified terminal, nicknamed the starfish for its radiating shape, spans about 700,000 square metres from a central hub out along six curved piers, making it the largest single building airport terminal in the world at the time of its completion. The entire project, including runways and rail links, cost an estimated 63 billion dollars, of which about 17 billion dollars went to the terminal and airfield construction itself.
