The Royal Stables, known in Swedish as Kungliga Hovstallet, is the mews of the Swedish monarchy in the Ostermalm district of Stockholm, providing ceremonial and everyday transport for the royal family. First established in 1535 near Stockholm Palace, the stables moved to their present site, with current buildings completed in 1894 to a Medievalist design by Ernst Jacobsson and Fritz Eckert. The complex today houses around 20 bay horses and about 50 carriages, including the 1897 Glass Coach state carriage used for parliamentary openings, and is open to the public as a tourist attraction.
