Brazilian architect, 1907 to 2012, who gave reinforced concrete a sensuous freedom of curve and built the civic monuments of the new capital Brasilia, the cathedral, congress and presidential palaces, with the planner Lucio Costa. A 1988 Pritzker laureate, he continued designing past his hundredth year.
