PTFE-coated fiberglass fabric is an architectural membrane material made by coating a woven fiberglass base cloth with polytetrafluoroethylene, the same non-stick polymer known commercially as Teflon, producing a durable, self-cleaning, highly flame-resistant fabric used to clad large tensile and air-supported structures. Commercialized from the 1970s onward, most prominently in the roof of Denver International Airport and numerous stadium and exhibition-hall roofs, its combination of translucency, allowing diffuse daylight through while blocking direct solar heat, light weight and a service life of several decades has made it the standard skin material for large-span tensile fabric architecture.
