51 Market Street

51 Market Street is a Late Federal style house between Madison and Monroe Streets in lower Manhattan, New York City, built in 1824 and 1825 for the grocer William Clark. The two-story gambrel-roofed dwelling, also known as the William and Rosamond Clark House, had two additional stories added in the late nineteenth century, and the AIA Guide to New York City calls it a superb example of Federal architecture. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1965 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 as a contributing property of the Two Bridges Historic District.
