Acadia Plantation

Acadia Plantation was a historic plantation house in Thibodaux, Louisiana, built in 1890 in the Queen Anne Revival style with Stick and Eastlake detailing, featuring ornate galleries, gables, and dormer windows. The plantation itself was established in 1828 by the brothers James, Rezin P., and Stephen Bowie, James Bowie among them the frontiersman who later died at the Alamo, and grew into a sugar operation of more than 2,000 acres that housed Louisiana's first steam-powered sugar mill. The house passed through several prominent owners before falling into decline and was demolished in 2010, after which its 132 acre site was redeveloped for residential and commercial use.
