The Al-Aqsa Mosque, also known as the Qibli Mosque, is the main congregational mosque and prayer hall within the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the Old City of Jerusalem. The name al-Masjid al-Aqsa is also applied, in some sources, to the wider compound in which the building sits, a compound also known as Haram al-Sharif.
