Annandale Plantation

Annandale Plantation was a historic cotton plantation complex and Italianate mansion in what is now the Mannsdale neighborhood of Madison, Mississippi, built from 1857 to 1859 to a design by architect Jacob Lamour. The three-story, 40-room mansion was encircled by one-story arched arcades that shaded its rooms and hallways, but it was destroyed by fire on September 9, 1924, and a Classical Revival replacement was later built on the site. The original 560-acre property is now divided into the Annandale Estates and Reunion residential developments, each with its own golf club, while the plantation's Chapel of the Cross, commissioned by owner Margaret Johnstone and completed in 1852, still stands as a National Register of Historic Places landmark.
