Ash Grove (plantation)

Ash Grove is an eighteenth-century plantation house in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Leesburg Pike about two miles west of present-day Tysons Corner. It was built in 1790 by Bryan Fairfax for his son Thomas Fairfax in the Georgian style then common in Virginia, and takes its name from an earlier Fairfax family residence in England. The property later passed through several owners, including Henry Fairfax, who operated a boarding school for young ladies there, and the Sherman family; Fairfax County acquired the house from the Shermans in 1997 and dedicated it as a county park.
