Belle Grove was a Greek Revival and Italianate plantation mansion near White Castle in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, built between 1852 and 1857 to a design by New Orleans architect Henry Howard. The completed house stood sixty-two feet high, measured 122 by 119 feet, and contained seventy-five rooms across four floors, making it one of the largest houses built in the antebellum South. It operated as a sugar plantation worked by more than 150 laborers. After decades of decline, the mansion was destroyed by fire on March 17, 1952, not long after being purchased for restoration.
