Bellevue (LaGrange, Georgia)

Bellevue is a historic mansion at 204 Ben Hill Street in LaGrange, Georgia, built between 1853 and 1855 as the centerpiece of a 1,200-acre plantation estate for Benjamin Harvey Hill, later a United States senator, to a design credited only to an architect known by his surname, Taylor. The two-story wood-frame house presents a two-story Greek temple front carried on six fluted Ionic columns, a distinctive example of Greek Revival architecture in the region. Bellevue was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973, and later recognized as a contributing property of the Broad Street Historic District; it is now owned by the LaGrange Women's Club, which offers tours and rents the house for events.
