Belmont Mansion (Tennessee)

Belmont Mansion, also known as Acklen Hall and originally as Belle Monte, is a historic mansion in Nashville, Tennessee, built between 1849 and 1853 for Joseph and Adelicia Acklen. The 36-room, roughly 19,000-square-foot house combines Greek Revival and Italianate architecture and originally stood at the center of 180 acres of elaborate gardens, conservatories, an aviary, a lake and a zoo. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, it is preserved and operated as a museum by the Belmont Mansion Association and Belmont University.
