The Bent Pyramid is an ancient Egyptian pyramid at the royal necropolis of Dahshur, about 40 kilometers south of Cairo, built under the Old Kingdom pharaoh Sneferu. It was the second of four pyramids built by Sneferu and is a unique example of the early experimentation involved in developing the true pyramid form in Egypt. Its distinctive silhouette comes from a change in the angle of its sides partway up the structure.
