Berlin Hauptbahnhof

Berlin Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of Berlin, Germany, designed by Meinhard von Gerkan of the firm Gerkan, Marg and Partners and formally opened on May 26, 2006. The station is built on two crossing levels, with east-west trains running through an elevated hall roofed in arched glass roughly 321 meters long and north-south trains passing through a tunnel level lit by glass walls, making it one of the largest and most compactly organized crossing stations in Europe. A photovoltaic array of about 2,700 square meters is integrated into the glazed roof surface, generating power for the station. The building replaced several older, more peripheral Berlin stations as the city's central rail hub after German reunification.
