Bill Gates's house is a 66,000 square foot Pacific lodge style mansion he designed and owns on the shore of Lake Washington in Medina, Washington, built with an earth sheltered design by the firms Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and Cutler Anderson Architects. Sometimes called Xanadu 2.0 after the fictional estate in Citizen Kane, it includes a domed private library, a 60 foot swimming pool with an underwater music system, a 2,500 square foot gym, six kitchens, and 24 bathrooms, and in 2009 its assessed value of about 147.5 million dollars produced roughly 1.063 million dollars in property taxes.
