Bjølstad Farm

The Bjolstad Farm is a farm in the Heidal valley of Sel Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway, first mentioned in written sources as early as 1270. By 1680 it had grown into a scattered farming settlement of more than 26 leased-out properties and 700 buildings, and it remains privately owned today with about 100 hectares of cultivated land and 3,000 hectares of forest. The Bjolstad Chapel, a timber-framed structure dating from 1531 with doorposts believed to originate from an earlier stave church and carvings in the Urnes style, now stands relocated at Heidal Church. Nine buildings at the farm received protected status under Norway's Cultural Heritage Act of 1920.
