Bremo Historic District

Bremo, also known as Bremo Plantation or the Bremo Historic District, is a plantation estate of more than 1,500 acres on the west side of Bremo Bluff in Fluvanna County, Virginia. It comprises three separate estates created in the nineteenth century by planter, soldier and reformer John Hartwell Cocke on his family's 1725 land grant, including the large neo-Palladian mansion at Upper Bremo, designed by Cocke with master joiner John Neilson, who also worked on Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, along with two smaller residences known as Lower Bremo and Bremo Recess.
