Callaway Plantation

Callaway Plantation, also known as the Arnold-Callaway Plantation, is a set of historical buildings and an open-air museum on 56 acres northwest of Washington, Georgia. The Callaway family owned the site from 1785 to 1977, and its buildings include a Greek Revival brick manor house built around 1869 by Aristides Callaway alongside an earlier homestead, a log cabin from 1785, a one-room schoolhouse from 1891 and former slave cabins. Donated to the city of Washington in 1977, it is operated today as a museum with period furnishings and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
