Chand Baori is a stepwell in the village of Abhaneri in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It descends roughly 30 meters into the ground, making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India, with about 3,500 steps arranged across 13 stories leading down to a tank at the bottom in an inverted pyramid form. It is named for a local ruler of the Nikumbh dynasty, Raja Chanda, and its construction is dated to the 8th or 9th century.
