Curutchet House

Curutchet House is a modernist residence and medical clinic in La Plata, Argentina, designed by Le Corbusier and built between 1949 and 1953 under the supervision of Amancio Williams. It was commissioned in 1948 by the surgeon Pedro Domingo Curutchet and applies Le Corbusier's five points of architecture, combining a ramp, a spiral staircase and a brise soleil on its main facade with a courtyard that separates the residence from the attached clinic, blending modernist design with the tradition of the Argentine courtyard house. The building now houses the Buenos Aires architects' professional association, the Colegio de Arquitectos, and is open to the public for tours. It was declared a National Historic Monument of Argentina in 2006 and inscribed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing of Le Corbusier's architectural work in 2016.
