Daniel Boone Homestead

The Daniel Boone Homestead is the birthplace of American frontiersman Daniel Boone, near Birdsboro in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The original log cabin was built in 1730 and later expanded into a two story hall and parlor house, with the site now encompassing nearly six hundred acres, the largest property owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Staff interpret the histories of three families who lived on the land, the Boones, the Maugridges and the DeTurks, and the grounds also include a restored blacksmith shop dating to about 1769 and the Bertolet House. The homestead operates today as a historic house and open air museum and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 24, 1972.
