Dodon (farm)

Dodon is a 550-acre former tobacco plantation near Davidsonville in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, about ten miles southwest of Annapolis near the South River. Its mansion, built around 1800 in Georgian and Victorian styles, replaced an earlier house destroyed by fire on land purchased in 1747 by planter and politician Dr. George H. Steuart, whose family has held the estate ever since. The plantation relied on forced labor through the colonial and antebellum periods before shifting to other agricultural uses in the twentieth century.
