Dubai International Airport Terminal 3

Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates is a dedicated terminal built exclusively for the airline Emirates at an estimated cost of 4.5 billion dollars, and on completion was the largest building in the world by floor space, with more than 1.7 million square meters of space. It opened on October 14, 2008, with an Emirates flight from Jeddah as its first arrival, and its departure and arrival halls sit partly underground, roughly 33 feet beneath the airport's apron level. Built with 27 gates designed for the Airbus A380, more than any other terminal at the airport, and a capacity for 65 million passengers a year against Terminal 1's 45 million and Terminal 2's 10 million, it also houses what is described as the largest and deepest baggage handling system in the world, capable of processing up to 8,000 bags an hour; the terminal was initially reserved for Emirates alone, though flydubai and United Airlines now operate limited services from it.
